It is not easy to know if a packed food is healthy just by looking at it. However, a little detective work can help you figure out if food is healthy. The Nutrition Facts Label is a food report card. It tells you what kinds of nutrients are in the packed food. It lists detailed information on calories, carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals etc. that are in a serving. Grade 4 students learnt how to read the Nutrition Food labels to compare different foods, and figure out which ones were healthier. For example, in the below photos, our students are comparing two juice packs to see which juice has more vitamins and less sugar.
